Packing is not an easy task

The process to get ready to take a trip like this is long. I have been doing it for several months. I would like to mention that I think I am traveling with "just the basic stuff" to be able to start from zero anywhere else. But "just the basic stuff" turned out to be too much. Being aware of this, I have been getting rid of things since I came back from Mexico to "travel more comfortably."

Thinking that I was ready, I took MY lovely car to the shop for general service, just to make sure everything was running smoothly. This took me almost all day.  At the shop the guys noticed that there was a dent in the wheel of one of the tires and suggested me to take the car to the Nissan for them to take a look. The idea was to start packing the car on Monday, so that we didn't have to do it all on Tuesday, but that didn't happen. I spent Tuesday morning at the Nissan. They fixed the problem and the car was ready to go. We started packing it in the afternoon. Packing a car with the belongings of two people is a little bit like playing tetris. And that was exactly it. I have no clue of how many times we had to get things out and put them back in to have more space. Absolutely exhausted, we decided to leave the rest for Wednesday.

Wednesday was our last day in Monterey. I had the opportunity to say good-bye many times, but I don't think that my mind understands what's happening. Of course we couldn't leave the town without a good laugh. We went to get gas in the morning and I decided to go into the shop to ask if they had any ice scrapers. When I asked that, the clerk gave me a funny look, walked to the shelves and grabbed an ice breaker packet and asked me "is this what you are looking for?" I said "no, I ned something to be able to get rid of the ice on the windshield" and she said: oh no, we don't have those". Anyways, we said good-bye to friends and when we were supposed to just put the last few things in the car, I had to admit that I needed to send three boxes through ups... And of course I donated more things.

Finally at 5 pm we left. We didn't get far, but we did say good-bye for the last time.
